Chapter 59

Helena’s fake smile vanished instantly, replaced by a flash of genuine, unadulterated outrage. Caldwell shifted nervously in his chair.
"Objection!" the opposing counsel shouted, jumping to his feet. "These allegations are completely baseless and highly defamatory! Mr. Vance is attempting to distract the court from his client's gross medical negligence!"
"Sit down, counselor," Judge Hawthorne barked, silencing the room. "Mr. Vance, you made a very serious accusation of federal fraud. You better have the evidence to back it up, or I will hold you in contempt."
"I have the evidence, Your Honor," David replied calmly, sliding a thick, bound folder across the table to the opposing counsel. "Exhibit A is a date-stamped photograph taken two weeks before the alleged injury, proving the plaintiff, Arthur Jenkins, has a prior personal relationship with Richard Caldwell, a senior executive for OmniCare's subsidiary."
Caldwell’s face went entirely pale as his lawyer stared at the photograph.
"Exhibit B," David continued ruthlessly, "is a private investigator's report submitted this morning. The investigator observed the supposedly paralyzed Mr. Jenkins playing an eighteen-hole round of golf yesterday afternoon at the Silver Pines Country Club."
"This is outrageous!" Helena hissed, completely losing her composed facade. "That investigator is lying!"
"And Exhibit C," David declared, pulling out a sealed envelope. "Is a cache of internal OmniCare emails, authored by Helena Vance herself. In these emails, Mrs. Vance explicitly instructs Mr. Caldwell to find a cooperative plaintiff to fake a catastrophic injury in order to artificially bankrupt my client's clinic."
The silence in the judge's chambers was deafening. The opposing counsel stared at the emails, realizing they had been utterly blindsided by their own clients.

Judge Hawthorne read through the emails, his expression growing darker and more furious with every passing second. He slowly looked up, glaring directly at Helena and Caldwell.
"This court will not be weaponized by corporate thugs," Judge Hawthorne stated, his voice a low, lethal rumble of absolute authority. "The injunction is denied. The malpractice lawsuit is dismissed with prejudice. And I am forwarding these emails directly to the United States Attorney's Office for immediate criminal investigation into fraud, perjury, and corporate extortion."
