Chapter 15 - The Empress in the Garden

One year later, the gardens of the Sterling estate were blooming with vibrant hydrangeas, white roses, and towering green hedges. The courtyard limestone had been restored to pristine perfection, and the ancient magnolia tree stood tall and proud in the warm summer breeze.
Meredith stood near the flowerbeds, wearing her comfortable faded denim apron and gardening gloves, carefully pruning a row of heirloom tea roses. Beside her, Julian was helping carry a wooden flat of fresh soil, laughing heartily at a joke shared between them.
The heavy glass patio doors opened, and Marcus, their newly appointed corporate secretary, stepped out onto the terrace holding a leather folder. “Excuse me, Miss Sterling, the European board of directors has just signed the final merger agreements in Geneva.”
Meredith wiped the sweat from her brow with the back of her glove, looking up with a contented smile. “Thank you, Marcus; have the legal team file the public disclosures at the opening bell on Monday.”
Julian set the flat of soil down on the flagstones, wiping his hands on a clean towel. “Are you ever going to move your office from the greenhouse back into the top floor of the corporate tower, Meredith?”
Meredith chuckled softly, looking around at the serene, private sanctuary her father had built with his own hands. “The tower is for commerce, Julian; the garden is where you remember who you are.”
A group of new domestic apprentices walked through the courtyard gate, bowing their heads respectfully as they passed the woman tending to the earth. There was no mockery, no arrogance, and no condescension; everyone in Chicago now knew that the true ruler of the Sterling empire walked with dirt on her hands and steel in her soul.

Julian looked at his sister with boundless pride, picking up his trowel to dig beside her under the shade of the magnolia tree. The family legacy was safe, the impostors were gone, and the roots of their empire ran deeper than any storm could ever reach.
Meredith looked out across the sun-drenched estate, feeling the quiet peace of absolute victory settle over her heart. The world would always test the strong, but as long as truth and honor guarded the gates, the Sterling dynasty would never fall.
