Chapter 12 - Federal Sirens at Midnight

The heavy oak doors of the grand ballroom burst open, and a team of twelve federal agents wearing tactical windbreakers marched into the hall. Leading the formation was Special Agent Marcus Vance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, holding a stack of red-sealed arrest warrants.

The crowd parted instantly, clearing a direct path toward the frozen, hyperventilating figures of Victoria and Genevieve. Victoria attempted to push past the agents toward the service exit, but two female federal officers blocked her path, grabbing her wrists with practiced efficiency.

“Victoria Vance, you are under arrest for federal wire fraud, conspiracy to commit murder, and interstate racketeering,” Agent Vance declared in a voice that rang with absolute authority.

Steel handcuffs clicked around Victoria’s manicured wrists, the harsh metallic sound echoing through the stunned silence of the room. Victoria glared at Meredith with murderous hatred, her aristocratic mask completely shredded into raw, unadulterated venom.

“You won’t get away with this, Meredith!” Victoria screamed, thrashing against the officers as they read her Miranda rights. “My attorneys will tear your family apart! You will burn in hell for this!”

Agent Vance then turned toward Genevieve, who had collapsed onto her knees among the shattered champagne glass, sobbing uncontrollably. “Genevieve Vance, you are under arrest for perjury, medical fraud, and corporate extortion.”

As the second pair of handcuffs locked around Genevieve’s wrists, she looked up at Julian with streaming tears, her emerald gown torn and stained with spilled wine. “Julian… please… I did it because I loved you! I wanted us to be powerful together!”

Julian looked down at the woman who had mocked a gardener and plotted his family’s destruction without a shred of empathy. “You never loved me, Genevieve; you loved the power you thought you could steal from my family.”

The federal agents pulled Genevieve to her feet, dragging her through the center aisle of the ballroom amidst the blinding flashes of national news cameras. The high-society guests watched in utter disgust as the disgraced socialites were marched out into the waiting convoy of federal vehicles.

Meredith stepped back to the podium, offering a calm, reassuring smile to the remaining guests. “Now that the trash has been properly removed, let us raise a glass to the enduring legacy of the Sterling family.”
