Chapter 11 - The Fabricated Dossier

Attorney Montgomery paced before the judge's bench, holding high the falsified incident reports from the St. Jude Early Learning Academy. "We have sworn depositions from Headmistress Barlow documenting over twenty instances of maternal intoxication and violent tantrums during student pickups."

"Furthermore, we submit the comprehensive psychological evaluation conducted by the court’s own independent evaluator, Dr. Evelyn Harrison," Montgomery continued with booming theatrical confidence. "Dr. Harrison’s clinical findings indicate that Elena Vance suffers from severe borderline personality disorder and Munchausen syndrome by proxy."

Dr. Harrison, seated in the front row of the witness gallery in an expensive tailored blazer, nodded solemnly toward the judge, projecting an aura of clinical infallibility. Camilla smiled faintly beneath her lace handkerchief, relishing the devastating narrative being woven against her enemy.

Judge Thornton turned his piercing, unreadable gaze toward the defense table. "Does counsel for the respondent wish to cross-examine or present rebuttal evidence at this time?"

Arthur Vance rose slowly to his full six-foot-two height, buttoning his charcoal suit jacket with deliberate, terrifying calm. He did not look at Montgomery; his eyes locked directly onto Camilla Sterling with the precision of an executioner aligning a blade.

"Your Honor, the defense does not merely wish to cross-examine; we request immediate permission to introduce newly discovered, unredacted physical evidence under Federal Rule 901," Arthur stated, his voice carrying the authority of a thunderclap. "We intend to demonstrate that every document, every report, and every clinical assessment submitted by the petitioner is the product of an aggravated criminal conspiracy."

A collective murmur of shock rippled through the gallery, several reporters leaning forward over the wooden railings. Montgomery leaped to his feet, waving his arms in furious protest.

"Objection, Your Honor! This is an outrageous, unsubstantiated smear campaign designed to delay these proceedings!" Montgomery bellowed. "Mr. Vance has provided no prior disclosure of these alleged exhibits!"

Judge Thornton slammed his heavy wooden gavel down with deafening force, silencing the room instantly. "Overruled, Mr. Montgomery. In matters involving the imminent physical safety of a minor child, this court will hear all relevant evidence."

"Mr. Vance, call your first witness and present your physical exhibits," Judge Thornton commanded, leaning forward over his bench.

Arthur Vance turned toward the petitioner's table, his arm extending toward the four-year-old child sitting in the leather chair. "The defense calls 'Barnaby' the plush rabbit—and the four-year-old child who holds him—to the witness stand."
