Chapter 7 - The Unveiling of the Sovereign

Arthur Pendelton’s face drained of all color as he stared at me, his legal papers trembling in his hands. “Victoria…? You… you’re the anonymous founder of Sovereign Global?”
“I founded this holding company nine years ago, Arthur,” I said, walking slowly down the center aisle of the boardroom with regal grace. “And every single retainer check your law firm received was signed by my personal digital authorization.”
The senior board members sat back down, their expressions hardening into cold disdain as they looked at Bianca and Pendelton. The lead director, a distinguished Swiss financier named Heinrich Weber, tossed his fountain pen onto the table with disgust.
“Miss Laurent, you just attempted to execute an illegal corporate coup against our primary governing shareholder,” Director Weber announced to the room. “Under international corporate law, your proxy claims are completely null and void.”
I stepped up to the head of the table, looking down at Bianca, whose glamorous facade was entirely destroyed by pure, suffocating panic. “You stood on my front porch last night wearing my sapphire robe, Bianca, and you told me to accept reality.”
I tapped the central control console on the lectern, and the gigantic 8K projection screens spanning the entire eastern wall lit up in brilliant clarity. The screens displayed the unredacted offshore banking records from the Bank of International Settlements in Nassau.
“Let’s talk about your reality, Bianca,” I said, my voice dropping into a register of icy precision. “Over the past twelve months, you and Julian siphoned thirty-five million dollars from our European pension reserves into private accounts in the Cayman Islands.”
Bianca clutched the edge of the conference table, her breath coming in shallow, frantic gasps as the financial charts traced every wire transfer to her personal holding company. “Julian told me those were discretionary executive bonuses! I had no idea they were tied to the employee pensions!”
“You signed the routing authorizations yourself, Bianca,” Charles stated, tossing a stack of authenticated wire receipts onto the table. “And you signed them forty-eight hours after helping Eleanor order the digitalis extract for the nursery humidifier.”

The boardroom erupted into gasps of horror and outrage, several directors openly shouting condemnations at the disgraced socialite. Bianca collapsed into her chair, covering her face as the weight of her corporate and criminal destruction crushed her completely.
I looked at the corporate security officers standing by the entrance and gave a single, definitive nod. “Escort Miss Laurent to the ground floor lobby and hand her directly over to the United States Marshals waiting outside.”
