Chapter 15 - The Sanctuary by the Sound

One year to the day after the terrace incident, the golden summer sun bathed the rolling green lawns of the Long Island estate in radiant warmth.
The infinity pool sparkled with pristine, crystal-clear turquoise water under the cloudless blue sky, surrounded by blooming hydrangeas and fragrant white roses.
The servant quarters in the basement had been completely demolished, replaced by a state-of-the-art children’s learning center and private library.
Little Maya, now five years old, ran energetically across the soft grass, chasing a golden retriever puppy while giggling with pure, unadulterated joy.
Her golden phoenix necklace caught the brilliant afternoon sunlight, glittering like a miniature star against her summer sundress.
Elena stood on the sunlit terrace, wearing a comfortable white linen dress, holding a glass of iced lemonade, her face relaxed and glowing with profound peace.
Dante walked out through the open French doors, dressed in a comfortable linen shirt with his sleeves rolled up, carrying a silver tray of fresh fruit.
He set the tray on the teak table and stepped beside Elena, wrapping his arm gently around her waist as they watched Maya play.
“She has Marcus’s laugh, Dante,” Elena whispered softly, leaning her head against his broad shoulder.
“And she has your courage, Elena,” Dante replied, his dark eyes filled with endless, unshakeable devotion.
“Marcus is looking down on this garden right now, knowing that his family is safe, loved, and whole.”
Down on the lawn, Maya scooped up her puppy, running up the stone steps toward the terrace with a bright, triumphant smile.
“Uncle Dante! Mommy! Look how fast Max can run!” Maya cheered, leaping into Dante’s open arms.
Dante caught her effortlessly, swinging her high into the warm summer breeze as her laughter echoed across the shimmering waters of the Long Island Sound.

The empire was restored, the sacred vows were honored, and the future stretched out before them—boundless, brilliant, and forever bathed in the light of truth and love.
