Chapter 12 - The Letter from the Hero

In the quiet, sacred warmth of the subterranean vault, Elena carefully broke the gold wax seal on Marcus’s final letter.
Dante knelt down beside Maya, lifting the four-year-old girl onto his knee so she could see her father’s elegant, bold handwriting.
Elena began to read aloud, her voice trembling with love and unshakeable pride:
”My Dearest Elena,” Marcus wrote, his loving words echoing through the room like a timeless embrace.
”If you are reading this in the company of Dante, it means I have completed my final duty, and my brother has brought you home to the light.”
”Never doubt for a single second that Dante would move heaven and earth to protect you; he is a man of honor who carries the weight of the world on his shoulders.”
”I leave everything I have built to you and our precious daughter, Maya—the light of my life and the greatest miracle I ever witnessed.”
”Teach her that true nobility is not found in grand titles or expensive gowns, but in the courage to stand up for those who are hurting and the kindness to heal broken hearts.”
”Walk with your head held high, my beautiful queen; you are the true mistress of the Vance dynasty, and my love will guard you for all eternity.”
Beneath the letter lay a beautiful gold necklace featuring a soaring winged phoenix set with a brilliant four-carat flawless diamond.
Dante gently took the necklace from the box, carefully fastening the golden clasp around little Maya’s neck.
The diamond sparkled brilliantly against Maya’s cream coat, resting directly over her pure, brave heart.
Maya touched the cool gemstone with her tiny fingers, looking up at her father’s portrait with a bright, radiant smile.
“Daddy is watching us from the stars, Mommy,” Maya said softly, her hazel eyes shining with absolute peace.
Elena smiled through her tears, kissing her daughter’s cheek before turning to face Dante with unshakeable strength.
