Chapter 13 - The Boardroom Coronation

At two o'clock that afternoon, the sixty-fourth-floor executive boardroom of the Moretti-Vance Maritime Tower in downtown Manhattan was packed with fifty international shipping titans.
The room buzzed with intense, nervous anticipation following the morning news broadcasts detailing the arrest of the Port Authority Deputy Commissioner and the seizure of the Cross holdings.
The heavy double frosted-glass doors of the boardroom swung open with commanding majesty.
Walking down the center aisle of the boardroom side by side were Dante Moretti and Elena Vance, radiating absolute, breathtaking authority.
Elena was dressed in an impeccably tailored royal-navy power suit, her posture majestic, commanding the immediate silence of every corporate director in the room.
Beside her, holding her hand proudly, was little Maya, wearing her golden phoenix necklace.
Dante stepped to the head of the sixty-foot mahogany conference table, resting his hands flat on the polished wood.
“Gentlemen of the board, foreign partners, and esteemed directors,” Dante announced in a voice that resonated like thunder.
“Allow me to formally introduce the new Co-Chairperson and Sovereign Trustee of the Moretti-Vance Global Maritime Conglomerate—Mrs. Elena Vance.”
The fifty corporate directors rose from their leather chairs in synchronized, reverent respect, bowing their heads toward the woman who held absolute controlling equity.
Arthur Montgomery stepped forward, projecting the unsealed sovereign charter onto the eighty-foot digital displays spanning the eastern wall.
“Under the terms of the Marcus Vance Testamentary Trust, Mrs. Elena Vance holds fifty-one percent of all voting shares in our Atlantic and European logistics divisions,” Arthur announced.
“Every corporate expenditure, every international lease, and every executive appointment requires her sole, independent authorization.”
Elena stepped up to the executive podium, looking out over the room of powerful men with calm, unyielding grace.
“For fourteen months, I witnessed firsthand how corporate power can be abused to crush human dignity,” Elena spoke with clear, resonant strength.
“Under my leadership, twenty percent of all operational profits will be permanently allocated to fund comprehensive healthcare, housing, and education for our fifty thousand port workers and their families.”
“No worker, no mother, and no child under our corporate umbrella will ever be left in the dark again.”

The entire boardroom erupted into a thunderous, standing ovation that echoed off the glass walls overlooking the New York harbor.
The humble woman who had scrubbed floors forty-eight hours ago had officially taken her rightful throne as the undisputed empress of the Atlantic.
