Chapter 11 - The Ambush at the Safehouse

Despite the federal arrests, the remnants of the Thorne syndicate’s private paramilitary contractor refused to surrender without a fight.
At two o'clock the following morning, Captain Jackson’s second-in-command, a ruthless Serbian mercenary named Dragan, mobilized eight surviving operators.
Driven by the promise of a ten-million-dollar contingency bounty stored in an offshore escrow, the mercenaries launched an armed assault on the Beacon Hill estate.
They cut the estate’s secondary power cables and bypassed the outer stone walls using tactical grappling lines.
Inside the master residence, the emergency red security beacons flared to life, illuminating the long mahogany corridors in a bloody, dramatic haze.
Dominic was awake instantly, racking the slide of his tactical carbine within three seconds of the perimeter alarm.
He moved into the master guest suite, finding Clara already standing near the reinforced steel safe room door, holding a compact sidearm with disciplined steadiness.
“Stay inside the vault, Clara,” Dominic commanded, his voice low and steady despite the gunfire erupting on the front terrace.
“I spent ten years running from monsters, Dominic,” Clara replied, her hazel eyes blazing with fierce, unbreakable courage.
“I am not hiding in a box while you fight for my family’s land.”
Before Dominic could argue, two masked mercenaries breached the second-floor gallery glass, their laser sights sweeping toward the bedroom threshold.
Dominic pulled Clara behind the heavy oak archway, firing three synchronized bursts that dropped the lead operative instantly onto the parquet floor.
Clara leaned around the corner with remarkable, cold precision, firing two rounds into the second mercenary’s tactical vest, knocking him off balance.
Dominic advanced with terrifying, lethal ferocity, driving his combat blade through the enemy’s tactical harness and clearing the corridor in seconds.
Downstairs, Leo Rossi and the estate’s twelve private security operators unleashed a devastating crossfire that neutralized the remaining attackers in the grand foyer.
Dragan was tackled to the marble floor by three guards, his assault weapon kicked away as Dominic descended the grand staircase.
Dominic stepped onto the final stair, looking down at the bleeding Serbian commander with eyes of pure, unadulterated ice.
“The Thorne family is in federal chains, Dragan,” Dominic said, his voice echoing through the smoke-filled hall.
“And their bounty died the second your boots touched my grass.”
He turned to Leo, gesturing toward the front entrance where federal tactical vehicles were already arriving with flashing blue lights.

“Hand these animals over to Agent Reed,” Dominic commanded.
“The war is officially over.”
