Chapter 11 - The Awakening of the Twins

Two weeks after the miraculous bone marrow transplant, the Tahoe mountain estate was filled with the radiant warmth of early summer.
The snow had melted from the high granite peaks, replaced by blooming alpine wildflowers, lush green pine groves, and singing birds.
The clinical equipment and sterile partitions had been completely removed from the third floor, returning the estate to a warm, sunlit family sanctuary.
Caleb and Maya were running energetically across the expansive green lawn behind the manor, their laughter echoing pure and free across the lake.
Both children wore comfortable denim overalls and bright sneakers, chasing a fluffy golden retriever puppy named Apollo through the grass.
Their hair had begun to grow back in soft, silky chestnut curls, their skin radiant with the robust vitality of complete health.
Clara stood on the sunlit stone terrace wearing a white linen sundress, holding two steaming mugs of freshly ground coffee.
Her lumbar surgical incisions had healed perfectly under Dr. Chen’s care, and her step was light, graceful, and full of boundless energy.
I walked out through the open French doors, dressed in a comfortable flannel shirt with my sleeves rolled up, stepping up behind her.
I wrapped my arms gently around her waist, resting my chin against her soft, fragrant hair as we watched the twins play soccer on the lawn.
“Look at how high Caleb kicks the ball, Roman,” Clara whispered softly, leaning her head back against my chest.
“He has his father’s power,” I replied with a warm, contented smile.
“And Maya has her mother’s grace… and her aunt’s unbreakable courage.”
Clara turned in my arms, looking up into my eyes with a devotion and love so deep and pure it took my breath away.
“Vivienne is at peace now, Roman,” she said softly, her fingers gently tracing the line of my jaw.
“She knows her babies are safe, loved, and whole.”
I leaned down, pressing my lips gently against hers in a sweet, tender kiss that sealed our past, our present, and our eternal future together.
Down on the grass, Caleb and Maya scooped up the puppy, running up the stone steps toward the terrace with bright, beaming smiles.

“Daddy! Aunt Clara! Look at Apollo! He learned how to sit!” Maya cheered, leaping into my open arms.
I caught her effortlessly, swinging her high into the warm mountain breeze as her joyful laughter rang out beneath the cloudless blue sky.
