Chapter 7 - The Scientific Execution

Evelyn Ward walked directly to the center of the mahogany conference table, completely ignoring the stunned executives who shrank back from her path.
She placed her ruggedized laptop onto the podium and connected the high-definition presentation cable.
Instantly, the four massive eighty-five-inch digital displays lining the boardroom walls flickered to life.
High-resolution mass spectrometry charts, chemical molecular breakdowns, and encrypted wire-transfer documents illuminated the room in stark, undeniable clarity.
“Members of the board,” Evelyn’s voice rang out with absolute, razor-sharp authority.
“For the past twenty months, you have been told that Noah and Ethan Thorne were dying of an idiopathic juvenile neuro-degenerative condition.”
“I am Evelyn Ward, Chief Forensic Toxicologist and Special Consultant to the Federal Department of Justice.”
“These documents represent the forensic analysis conducted at the Thorne estate over the past twenty-four hours.”
The screens shifted, displaying the chemical structure of the Antwerp organophosphate-ester hybrid.
“This compound was delivered inside specialized HVAC scent canisters by Dr. Alistair Finch.”
“It was designed to induce progressive muscular atrophy while leaving standard toxicology panels completely clean.”
“And here,” Evelyn pressed a key, bringing up the financial transaction records from the Banque Nationale de Genève.

“Is the sixty-million-dollar offshore payment transferred directly from Julian Vance’s private shell corporation to Victoria Vance-Thorne’s account in the Cayman Islands.”
The entire room erupted into an uproar of furious shouts and panicked murmurs.
Director Arthur Pendelton slammed his fist onto the table, his face flushed with righteous fury.
“This is treason! This is attempted murder of two innocent children!”
Victoria leaped from her chair, knocking her coffee cup across the legal documents.
“It’s a lie! This woman is a fraud hired by Gabriel to defame us!” Victoria screeched hysterically, pointing a trembling finger at Evelyn.
“Julian, call building security! Have them removed!”
Julian didn't move.
He couldn't move.
He sat pinned to his executive leather chair, staring into the cold, merciless eyes of Gabriel Thorne.
Gabriel walked slowly down the length of the table, his heavy leather dress shoes making a rhythmic, terrifying sound on the hardwood border.
He stopped directly behind Julian’s chair, leaning down until his lips were inches from his adoptive brother’s ear.
“You sat at my Thanksgiving table, Julian,” Gabriel whispered, his baritone voice dripping with venomous restraint.
“You held my sons in your arms when they were born.”
“You called yourself their uncle while you paid Finch two hundred thousand dollars a month to pump poison into their bedroom.”
Julian began to shake violently, tears of pure, unadulterated terror leaking down his pale cheeks.
“Gabriel… please…” Julian choked out, his chest heaving with shallow breaths.
“She forced me… Victoria had the original shipping ledgers from the harbor explosion… she threatened to expose the syndicate’s offshore routes…”

“You sold my flesh and blood for balance sheets and shipping lanes,” Gabriel said softly.
“And now, you will pay the price in full.”
