Chapter 15 - The Dawn over Boston Harbor

That evening, as the sun dipped beneath the western horizon, painting the sky in magnificent bands of crimson, gold, and deep violet, Ethan and Elena walked along the private waterfront terrace of their new home.
Six-year-old Toby was running energetically across the soft green lawn, chasing a golden retriever puppy named Barnaby, laughing pure, joyous laughter that echoed across the water.
One-year-old Hope was sitting happily in her wooden stroller, clapping her tiny hands as the seagulls glided across the golden twilight.
Ethan stood behind Elena at the stone balustrade, wrapping his arms securely around her waist, pulling her close against his beating heart.
The cool ocean breeze rustled the soft fabric of her dress, carrying the fresh, clean scent of the Atlantic surf.
Elena leaned her head back against his broad chest, her hand resting over his where his gold wedding band gleamed in the twilight.
“Do you remember the night you walked into that dining room in the sleet, Ethan?” Elena asked softly, looking out over the sparkling water.
Ethan smiled, kissing her temple with endless, unyielding devotion.
“I remember looking into your eyes and knowing that my entire life was about to begin, Elena,” he replied softly.
“You and Toby gave me the strength to tear down their kingdom of lies and build something real.”
Far away in the federal penitentiaries of Colorado and Alabama, Arthur, Beatrice, and Cassandra were sitting in windowless concrete cells, forgotten by the world they had tried to steal.
There were no more dark pantries, no more stale crusts of bread, no more poisoned cups of tea, and no more cold nights in the sleet.
The Thorne dynasty had been redeemed, the bloodline was healed, and the family was finally home.
Toby scooped up his puppy, running up the stone steps toward the terrace with a bright, triumphant smile.
“Daddy! Mommy! Look how high Barnaby can jump!” Toby cheered, leaping into Ethan’s open arms.

Ethan caught his son effortlessly, lifting him high into the warm ocean breeze as his joyful laughter rang out beneath the rising canopy of stars.
Hand in hand, with their children laughing beside them, Ethan and Elena looked out toward the infinite, brilliant horizon of tomorrow, ready to write the beautiful, unwritten chapters of forever.
