Chapter 15 - The Flight to Geneva

One year later, the morning sun broke over the snow-capped peaks of the Swiss Alps, bathing the city of Geneva in radiant golden light. I stood on the balcony of the Vance Global European Headquarters, looking out over the pristine blue waters of Lake Geneva.
Beside me on the marble table sat a warm cup of coffee and the freshly minted annual report of the David Vance Charitable Foundation. Over two hundred million dollars had been distributed to fund independent forensic laboratories and support young corporate whistleblowers across the globe.
My phone chimed with a text message from Boston, accompanied by a photograph of a newly opened pediatric health center glowing beneath a morning rainbow. In the center of the photograph stood Zachary, wearing a simple blue sweater and a hard hat, smiling brightly alongside a group of laughing children.
The clinic is officially open, Sienna, the caption read. Thank you for giving me a reason to believe in the future again.
I smiled, typing a quick reply: Proud of you, cousin. Keep building.
Arthur Cole walked out onto the balcony, holding a leather folder containing the final closing documents for the liquidation of the old Sterling estate. "Every acre of the Lake Forest property has been sold to the county park district, Sienna; the old house was demolished yesterday."

"Good," I said, taking a deep breath of the crisp, clean alpine air. "Some houses are built on foundations of lies that can only be cleared with fire and truth."
I looked out across the shimmering lake, feeling the gentle warmth of the sun on my face, completely free from the shadows of the past. The duffle bag was unpacked, the fake contracts were burned, and the Vance name stood tall, unshakeable, and forever redeemed.
