Chapter 8 - The Palm Beach Gala Ambush

The Palm Beach Yacht Club glittered with ostentatious luxury beneath the swaying palm trees, shielded from the coastal breeze by massive glass pavilions. Hundreds of high-society elites, corrupt hedge fund managers, and socialites in shimmering gowns sipped vintage champagne beneath crystal chandeliers.

At the center of the VIP pavilion, standing on a raised teak platform overlooking his hundred-and-fifty-foot superyacht The Golden Sovereign, was Julian Vance. He wore an ivory tuxedo with gold cufflinks, laughing loudly as he raised a crystal flute of Dom Pérignon to toast his wealthy investors.

"To visionary ambition, unmatched pedigree, and the courage to leave the weak behind!" Julian proclaimed with charismatic arrogance, soaking in the thunderous applause of the shallow elite. "Tomorrow, our new Swiss sovereign fund opens with two hundred million in initial capital!"

Beside him stood his socialite fiancée, Genevieve, draped in emerald necklaces and gloating over the society photographers capturing every second of their triumphant farewell party. Julian genuinely believed he had executed the perfect escape, leaving his broke uncle and aunt to absorb the mob's wrath in Chicago while he sailed into eternal luxury.

Suddenly, the heavy glass doors of the pavilion slid open with a deafening hydraulic hiss. The rhythmic click of polished dress shoes echoed across the marble floor as a phalanx of ten federal marshals and four Vanguard tactical security officers entered the room in silent formation.

The laughter died in the throats of the guests, and the string quartet stopped playing mid-measure. Julian's arrogant smile flickered, a sudden wave of irritation crossing his handsome face as he adjusted his lapel.

"What is the meaning of this disruption?" Julian snapped, waving his champagne flute toward the club's private security team. "I am hosting a private event; remove these federal trespassers from my pavilion immediately!"

From the center of the tactical phalanx, I stepped forward into the radiant chandelier light. My charcoal bespoke suit and towering physique cast a long, commanding shadow across the teak floor, my hazel eyes locking onto Julian's face with lethal intensity.

Julian dropped his crystal flute, the glass shattering violently against the teak deck, spraying vintage champagne across his polished shoes. His breath hitched, his tanned complexion draining of all color until he looked like a corpse in an ivory suit.

"Lucas...?" Julian choked out, his voice cracking into a high-pitched, pathetic whimper that echoed through the dead-silent room. "No... this is impossible... you're dead... you disappeared twelve years ago..."

"I didn't disappear, Julian," I said, my voice resonating through the pavilion with terrifying, unshakeable power. "I just took twelve years to buy every single asset, every debt, and every soul you thought you owned."
