Chapter 15 - The Horizon of the Champion

That evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in vibrant hues of gold, crimson, and deep violet, I walked alone along the empty track. The cool evening breeze rustled through the oak trees, carrying the sweet scent of fresh grass and summer rain.

I stopped at lane four—the exact lane where I had run my championship race twelve years ago, when I was seventeen, hungry, and alone. I knelt down, touching the cool synthetic rubber with my bare fingertips, feeling the steady, rhythmic pulse of my own heartbeat.

There were no more debts to pay, no more ghosts to fight, and no more shadows lurking behind locked mahogany doors. Julian was locked away in a concrete box in Colorado, Edward and Evelyn were forgotten footnotes in the public record, and Harold's legacy was alive and thriving across the nation.

My phone buzzed in my pocket—a message from my aerospace logistics division announcing the successful launch of our new global satellite network. I smiled, glancing down at Harold's gold pocket watch ticking steadily in my palm.

I stood up to my full height, taking a deep, clean breath of the Midwestern night air. I adjusted my jacket, looked toward the open gates of the stadium, and walked forward into the boundless, brilliant future I had forged with my own two hands.

The boy in the sweat-stained emerald singlet had finished his race. And the champion had finally come home to rule his own empire.
