Chapter 8 - The Confrontation
The smoke from the flashbang filled the warehouse, creating a chaotic landscape of gunfire and shouting.
Julian moved like a ghost through the haze, taking down two more mercenaries with precise, tactical shots.
Marcus scrambled behind a heavy steel support pillar, shouting orders to his remaining men to kill Julian at all costs.
"Destroy him! Don't let him get near the silver briefcase!" Marcus screamed, his composure completely shattering.
Julian ran toward the central metal table, his eyes locked entirely on the glowing silver case containing the antidote.
A mercenary stepped out from behind a large chemical vat, swinging a heavy iron pipe directly at Julian’s head.
Julian ducked under the swing, driving his combat knife into the man's shoulder and throwing him over the table.
He reached for the silver briefcase, but a sudden bullet struck the metal surface just inches from his fingers, sparks flying.
Julian dove for cover behind a heavy forklift as Marcus emerged from the smoke, holding a high-caliber pistol.
"You won't leave this building alive, Julian! The Vance legacy ends tonight in this filth!" Marcus yelled insanely.
At that exact moment, the facility's main loading doors were suddenly smashed open with a resounding, metallic crash.
A convoy of black armored vehicles stormed into the warehouse, their high-intensity searchlights cutting through the smoke.
Dozens of heavily armed tactical team members poured out, their weapons drawn as they surrounded the remaining criminals.
Leading the assault was Julian’s chief of security, alongside Evelyn Vance, who held a weathered leather book in her hand.
"Drop your weapons immediately! The building is entirely surrounded!" the tactical commander shouted over a megaphone.
Marcus stared at the overwhelming force in absolute disbelief, realizing his operation had been completely compromised.
Evelyn stepped forward into the light, holding the legendary ledger high above her head for Marcus to see clearly.
"We found it, Marcus. The complete ledger of the Azure Order. It’s over," Evelyn announced, her voice strong and steady.
Marcus looked at the ledger, then at the silver briefcase, his eyes flashing with a desperate, vengeful madness.
He aimed his pistol directly at the silver briefcase, intending to destroy the antidote and take Lily down with him.
Before he could pull the trigger, Julian fired a perfectly aimed shot from his position, striking Marcus cleanly in the hand.
The pistol clattered to the floor, and Marcus fell to his knees, howling in agony as tactical officers rushed in to secure him.
Julian sprinted to the table, grabbing the silver briefcase and checking the digital display to ensure it was still functioning.

"We need to get this to the estate right now! We have less than two hours left!" Julian shouted, sprinting toward the exit.
