Chapter 11 - THE MONEY THAT LANDED IN MY HUSBAND'S COMPANY

Twenty-six million dollars entered MorganWell through three investment vehicles.
Adrian stared at the transfer report.
“I didn't authorize this.”
His CFO did.
The same CFO who edited the forged credit document.
His name was Trevor Lane.
Adrian had hired him two years earlier.
Recommended by Claudia.
Of course.
The pattern was almost elegant.
Claudia placed people around Adrian.
Encouraged his dependence on Vale Harbor money.
Fed MorganWell enough capital to keep it alive.
Then used its desperation as leverage.
The new transfer made Adrian look like her partner.
Maybe that was the point.
Adrian immediately authorized investigators and outside counsel to freeze access where possible.
Then he did something I didn't expect.
He resigned as CEO.
Effective immediately.
His board resisted.
He refused to reconsider.
“I can't lead the company while investigators determine how much of this happened under my nose.”
I looked at him.
That was accountability.
Late.
Painful.
Not enough to save our marriage.
But real.
Meanwhile, investigators located Claudia’s abandoned car near a private airfield.
She had not boarded a plane.
Her passport remained unused.
Then Julian found another clue.
Vale Harbor owned an old training property outside Lake Geneva.
Unused for years.
Claudia’s father had once managed it.
A vehicle registered to her assistant was captured near the gate.
Authorities moved carefully.
No private Vale Harbor security.
No Adrian.
No me.
Then Claudia surrendered.
Alive.
Calm.
And carrying documents.
That surprised everyone.
She requested an attorney and offered to cooperate.
Why?
Because Trevor Lane had apparently betrayed her.
He transferred the twenty-six million to MorganWell.
Then attempted to move it again into his own accounts.
Claudia realized the network she'd controlled for years was collapsing.
So she chose survival.
Her statement confirmed financial fraud.
The pension scheme.
MorganWell manipulation.
Forged documents.
Bribed employees.
But when investigators asked about my father’s death, she denied murder.
“He was already sick.”
That phrase made my skin crawl.
Then she admitted visiting him that day.
They argued.
Dad told her the audit was complete and she would be removed.
She claimed she left him alive and furious.
“What about the sedative prescription?” investigators asked.
Her answer:
“Ask Dr. Pike.”
Dr. Pike was questioned.
He denied prescribing it.
The signature had been forged.
Another forgery.
The pills may have come from someone else.
Then toxicology from Dad’s preserved hospital samples was re-examined.
Results showed trace levels of a sedative.
Not enough to conclusively establish cause of death.
But enough to raise serious concern.
Then Claudia revealed one final secret.
She said someone else was inside Dad’s house after she left.
Someone whose access would never have looked suspicious.
May you like
My husband.
Adrian Morgan.
