Chapter 7 - THE INHERITANCE MY FATHER HID FROM ME

Our mother’s Bellori inheritance had been split.

Not entirely to Victoria.

Half to her.

Half to me.

Why did everyone believe Victoria controlled it?

Because Dad hid my portion in a separate trust under my middle name.

Elena Marie Carter.

The Bellori documents used:

Marie Elena Bellori.

No one connected them.

Except Dad.

He hid my rights because Salvatore had already shown interest in controlling Bellori votes.

If the Morettis knew I owned half, marrying me would become politically necessary.

Dangerous.

So Dad made Victoria visible.

Me invisible.

Again, protection through deception.

I wanted to scream.

Instead, I read.

My share was worth approximately $31 million.

More important:

Voting rights.

When combined with Leo’s future descendant rights, my branch could block any Moretti family restructuring.

Marcus wanted the $40 million because money mattered.

Gianna wanted Leo hidden because control mattered.

Dante?

I looked at him.

“What would you gain if I married you now?”

He answered without hesitation.

“Nothing.”

“Check.”

His lawyer did.

Under reforms Dante made after Salvatore’s death, family voting rights no longer transferred through marriage.

Good.

“What about Leo?”

“Protected beneficial interest only. No operational authority until adulthood.”

Better.

Dante had already changed the system before knowing Leo existed.

That mattered.

Then Marcus called me.

Directly.

“Elena.”

“You photographed my son.”

“I warned you.”

“You threatened him.”

“No.”

“Don’t play language games.”

He sighed.

“Gianna is going to move first.”

“Move how?”

“She’s trying to invalidate your Bellori trust.”

Why?

If my trust disappeared, Victoria’s $40 million settlement became easier to legitimize and Moretti ownership stayed stable.

Marcus claimed he wanted the money to challenge Gianna.

I laughed.

He wanted twelve million for noble purposes?

Convenient.

Then he said:

“Your father did not die from heart disease.”

“I know.”

“Gianna poisoned him.”

Victoria went still.

Dante’s face hardened.

Evidence?

Marcus had a recording.

Price:

Meet alone.

No.

We involved my attorney.

Law enforcement.

Controlled meeting.

Marcus hated it.

Too bad.

At the meeting, he brought audio.

Dad arguing with Gianna.

She threatened to “end this before the girls destroy everything.”

Then glass.

A drink.

Dad coughing.

Not enough to prove poisoning.

Then Dad said:

“You already drugged Marianne years ago. I won’t let you do it again.”

Our mother.

She died when Victoria and I were teenagers.

Stroke.

Or so we believed.

Gianna may have harmed her too.

Then Marcus revealed why.

Mom had discovered the Bellori trust contained stolen Moretti criminal proceeds.

She wanted federal disclosure.

Gianna stopped her.

Our family tragedy was older than Dante.

Older than the wedding.

Then police moved to detain Gianna.

Her house was empty.

One message left behind:

YOU’RE ALL LOOKING AT THE WRONG MARRIAGE.

Attached:

Our parents’ wedding certificate.

Anthony Carter.

Marianne Bellori.

Witness:

May you like

Salvatore Moretti.

My father’s marriage had been the original deal.
