Chapter 9 - The Bloodline Deception

The following morning, our legal teams assembled in the grand library of the Vance estate to finalize the unsealing of the corporate trusts.
Arthur Vance sat at the head of the conference table, reviewing the medical and genetic files recovered from Seraphina’s seized safe deposit box.
“Audrey, Damien, our forensic investigators discovered an additional layer of psychological fraud in Seraphina’s personal history,” Arthur announced gravely.
He opened a sealed medical dossier from five years ago, displaying the authenticated clinical records from a private fertility clinic in Boston.
“Five years ago, Seraphina claimed to have suffered a tragic second-trimester miscarriage that allegedly rendered her permanently infertile,” Arthur explained.
“She used that fabricated grief to emotionally manipulate Damien into signing over fifty percent of his ancestral foundation’s executive voting rights.”
Damien stared at the clinical documents, his jaw tightening as he read the physician’s notes: Patient underwent elective non-pregnancy hormonal therapy; zero biological conception recorded.
“She faked the entire pregnancy,” Damien whispered, running a hand over his face in disbelief.
“She spent five years making me feel guilty for working late at the hospital, claiming I had abandoned her in her grief.”
“And Blake used the exact same psychological tactic against you, Audrey,” Marcus Cole interjected, sliding an archival hospital file across the table.
“Eighteen months ago, when your father was in the cardiovascular ICU, Blake intercepted the attending physician’s prognosis reports.”
“He told you your father had less than forty-eight hours to live, inducing the emotional panic that led you to sign the preliminary proxy forms.”
“In reality, your father was stabilizing; he only passed away after Blake authorized an unauthorized medication change with a corrupt private nurse.”
The room dropped into an absolute, horrifying silence as the true depth of our spouses’ monstrous partnership was laid bare.
They had not just stumbled into an affair out of boredom; they had spent years systematically hunting our families, our fortunes, and our lives.
I reached out and took Damien’s hand across the table, our fingers interlacing with an unshakeable, unbreakable strength.
We had both been targeted by predators who mistook our kindness for weakness and our loyalty for blindness.

“They thought they could break us into pieces, Damien,” I said, looking into his clear, determined eyes.
“Now let us make sure they watch us rebuild everything they tried to steal.”
