Chapter 9 - The Bloodline Ledger

With the hospital perimeter fully secured by federal tactical reinforcements, Detective Marcus Vance arrived on the fourth floor carrying a heavy titanium lockbox.
The lockbox had been retrieved from Damian’s private subterranean vault beneath the Old State Bank in downtown Boston.
We gathered in the secure conference room adjoining the pediatric suite, where Nora and Dr. Sterling were monitoring Leo’s post-transplant cellular vitals.
“Matteo, our forensic cyber-team finally cracked the biometric encryption on Damian’s master ledger,” Detective Marcus announced, placing the files on the table.
Inside the titanium box lay an uncorrupted digital archive, three physical corporate deeds bearing the sovereign seal of the Commonwealth, and a video cassette recorded by Damian seven years ago.
I inserted the video drive into the secure display terminal, and the high-definition monitor illuminated with my brother’s handsome, commanding face.
Damian sat in his private study in his naval uniform, his hazel eyes filled with profound wisdom and unyielding love as he addressed the camera.
”Matteo, if you are watching this, it means the wolves inside our house finally made their move, and I am no longer there to watch your back,” Damian spoke, his voice filling the room like a warm, powerful embrace.
”I leave everything I have built—the shipping terminals, the real estate trusts, and the legitimate logistics empire—to my beloved son, Leo Vance.”
”And I appoint you, my brave little brother, as his sole legal guardian, protector, and sovereign trustee until he reaches his twenty-fifth birthday.”
Damian looked directly into the camera, a proud, knowing smile touching his lips.
”I know you will protect Nora with your life, Matteo; she is the bravest woman I have ever known, and she carries the heart of our family.”
”Clean our house, little brother, burn the traitors from our name, and teach my boy how to look at the stars without fear.”
The video faded to black, leaving the entire room in a state of breathless, tearful reverence.
Nora wept softly, clutching the silver locket against her chest, feeling the heavy burden of seven years of isolation permanently lifted from her soul.

Detective Marcus opened the accompanying corporate deed, sliding the legal parchment before me.
“Under the terms of Damian’s sovereign testament, seventy-five percent of the Vance Global conglomerate has been officially registered under the Leo & Nora Vance Living Trust,” Marcus stated.
“And the remaining twenty-five percent is granted exclusively to you, Matteo, as the governing Managing Director.”
I looked at the documents, feeling the unbreakable vow I had made to my brother settle into my bones like forged steel.

“The wolves thought they could steal an empire by murdering a father and starving a child,” I said, closing the leather portfolio with finality.
“Now let us go to the docks and show them what happens when the rightful king comes home.”
