Chapter 6 - THE HOUSE OF SECRETS

The old Moretti estate looked exactly as Adrian remembered it.
Dark windows.
Iron gates.
Dead roses.
His childhood home.
Vincent stood on the front steps.
Beside him was a frightened teenage boy.
Marcus's son.
“You brought Luca,” Vincent said.
Adrian stopped.
“You knew.”
“I always knew.”
Luca stepped forward.
“You destroyed my life.”
Vincent smiled.
“No. Your father did.”
He looked at Adrian.
“Your father wanted to dismantle everything. He thought morality mattered more than power.”
Adrian's voice was cold.
“And you killed him?”
“I gave him a choice.”
“What choice?”
“Obey or disappear.”
Vincent's smile faded.
“He chose badly.”
Inside the house, a clock chimed.
Vincent gestured toward the door.
“Come in.”
Adrian entered.
On the dining table lay the original ledger.
Beside it were photographs.
Elena.
Luca.
Adrian's mother.
And Adrian himself.
Vincent had been watching them for years.
Then he revealed the final secret.
“Elena didn't die because she knew about the ledger.”
Luca froze.
“She died because she knew who ordered the accident.”
Adrian stared.
“Who?”
Vincent smiled.
“Your father.”
Silence.
Luca shook his head.
“Liar.”
Vincent pointed toward the ledger.
“Read page ninety-three.”
Luca opened it.
His face changed.
There was a payment.
Signed with his father's initials.
But Adrian noticed something strange.
The ink looked newer than the surrounding entries.
He reached for the ledger.
Vincent shouted.
“Don't!”
Adrian smiled.
“You made one mistake.”
“What?”
“You assumed I'd believe handwriting.”
Adrian held up his phone.
“I recorded everything.”
Vincent's face fell.
But then he laughed.
“You think recording me saves you?”
A door slammed upstairs.
Someone screamed.
May you like
Mara.
Vincent had not come alone.
