Chapter 6 - THE LAWYER WHO OWNED THE BOARD:

Gregory had planned everything.

That became clear within twenty-four hours.

He had created the shell companies.

He had drafted the marriage agreement.

He had forged signatures.

He had manipulated Denise.

He had convinced Tyler's father to borrow against my assets.

He had even helped my mother and father hide from one another.

The entire family had been fighting over a game board he controlled.

And I had been the prize.

I called him.

He answered calmly.

“Olivia.”

“Give me the money back.”

He laughed.

“You're finally awake.”

“You stole from my trust.”

“I managed your trust.”

“Without authorization.”

“Your family needed me.”

“My family needed the truth.”

“You sound like your father.”

“That's an insult now?”

“It's a warning.”

I closed my eyes.

“What do you want?”

“Your signature.”

“Why?”

“To transfer the remaining trust assets.”

“No.”

“Then Tyler goes to prison.”

I froze.

“What?”

“I have evidence.”

“Of what?”

“He signed the first company.”

“He was manipulated.”

“Courts don't care about manipulation.”

I stared at the phone.

He had anticipated everything.

“What else?”

“Your father goes to prison too.”

“What?”

“Fraud.”

I looked at my father.

He closed his eyes.

“And your mother?”

“Financial conspiracy.”

“Denise?”

“Identity theft.”

“Your whole family will collapse.”

I laughed.

“You already collapsed it.”

“No.”

Gregory's voice became cold.

“I own the records.”

“You own copies.”

Silence.

“What?”

“You forgot something.”

I held up a drive.

“The original.”

Gregory stopped speaking.

I continued.

“My father kept the original financial archive.”

His voice changed.

“Where?”

“You tell me.”

He hung up.

I smiled.

The game had changed.

We had evidence.

Not accusations.

Evidence.

Rachel filed emergency motions.

Banks froze the transfer.

Authorities opened a criminal investigation.

Tyler turned over his records.

Denise did too.

My father testified.

My mother testified.

Even Gregory's own employees began cooperating.

And then we found the final secret.

Gregory had been stealing from my family for twenty-seven years.

But he hadn't done it alone.

The beneficiary on his offshore accounts was not himself.

It was a charitable foundation.

The Stonebridge Children's Fund.

At first, it looked legitimate.

Then Rachel traced the directors.

Three were judges.

One was a former senator.

One was a bank executive.

All had ties to Gregory.

The fund wasn't a charity.

It was a network.

Bribery.

Influence.

Control.

Gregory had spent decades turning families into financial pawns.

I looked at my father.

“How did you never stop him?”

“I tried.”

“When?”

“Too late.”

My mother stepped forward.

“I knew something was wrong.”

“Why?”

“Because he told me your father was stealing.”

She had believed him.

Everyone had.

He had built lies so carefully that each person thought they were protecting themselves.

Then Tyler asked a question.

“So what happens now?”

I looked at everyone.

“We stop protecting the wrong people.”

My father nodded.

“Agreed.”

Denise cried.

“I don't know how to fix this.”

“You don't fix it,” I said.

“You tell the truth.”

She nodded.

The family began cooperating.

Gregory vanished.

But we knew where he was going.

The trust vault.

The original.

May you like

He wanted the final documents.

We got there first.
