Chapter 9 - THE LAST DOOR

The estate went into lockdown.
Federal agents surrounded the property.
Julian held Noah while Gabriella stayed beside Dominic.
His mother stood near the window.
“He'll come for the child.”
Julian shook his head.
“No.”
“He'll come for the evidence.”
A loudspeaker outside announced:
“Victor Cross! You are surrounded!”
Silence.
Then Victor's voice came through the estate's internal speakers.
“You always were predictable, Julian.”
Julian looked around.
“How did he get into the system?”
His mother whispered:
“Richard gave him access.”
Richard was already in custody.
But he had planned for this.
Victor began revealing secrets over the speakers.
“Arthur lied.”
“Your mother lied.”
“Dominic lied.”
“Everyone lied.”
Julian closed his eyes.
Then he smiled.
Victor stopped speaking.
“What?”
Julian looked at the security camera.
“You forgot one thing.”
“What?”
“You told us everything.”
Victor went silent.
The entire conversation had been recorded.
Federal investigators were listening.
Every threat.
Every confession.
Every name.
Victor realized too late.
“You think this changes anything?”
Julian answered:
“It changes everything.”
The archive was opened.
The evidence was transmitted to federal authorities.
Within minutes, warrants were issued across multiple states.
Victor's network collapsed.
Agents found him hiding inside an underground service tunnel beneath the estate.
He surrendered without firing a shot.
The nightmare was finally over.
But Julian still had one decision left.
Dominic stood across from him.
“I'll leave.”
He looked at her.
“I won't fight you for custody.”
“You're Noah's mother.”
“And you're his father in every way that matters.”
Julian looked at the baby.
Then at her.
“I don't know if I can forgive the lies.”
“I don't expect you to.”
“But I can forgive you for trying to protect him.”
Dominic began crying.
Julian stepped closer.
“We don't have to become husband and wife again.”
She nodded.
“But we can become parents.”
She looked at him.
“Together?”
“Together.”
His mother smiled through tears.
Arthur walked toward them.
“I know I don't deserve forgiveness.”
Julian looked at him.
“No.”
Arthur lowered his head.
“But maybe you can earn a place in Noah's life.”
Arthur's eyes filled with tears.
“I will.”
For the first time, the family stood together without a secret between them.
Then Noah smiled.
And Julian realized the child who had almost destroyed their family…
May you like
might be the reason it finally healed.
