Chapter 10 - The Crown Reclaimed

One year later.
The grand auditorium of Vance Global Headquarters in Chicago was filled to capacity with international investors, journalists, and industry leaders. Above the stage, the newly restored company logo glowed in brilliant silver: VANCE ENTERPRISES.
Nora Vance stepped up to the podium in an impeccably tailored cream pantsuit, her hair styled in elegant waves, exuding absolute power and poise. In the front row, Marcus held her six-month-old daughter, Clara, who watched the bright lights with wide, curious eyes
“True strength is not measured by the empires we inherit,” Nora spoke into the microphone, her voice commanding the silence of every person in the room. “It is measured by the courage to walk away from tables where respect is no longer served, and having the fortitude to build a better world from the ashes.”
The room erupted into a standing ovation. Nora looked out over the crowd, seeing a future unburdened by deceit, betrayal, or manipulation.

He touched his empty left ring finger, remembering the night the diamond hit his mother’s palm, knowing that he had traded a queen and a legacy for a crown made of dust.
