Chapter 11 - GRACE OWNED BOTH SIDES

Maya called it the most Richard Calloway thing imaginable.
Grace called it insane.
Through Richard's trust, she controlled voting rights over the Calloway shares and economic rights in Vanguard Harbor.
Meaning she stood on both sides of the bridge loan.
Borrower and lender.
Not personally.
Fiduciarily.
Enough to resolve the deadlock.
She could force Mercer Ridge to accept restructured terms.
Rachel Reed was furious.
“You have no idea what you're doing.”
Grace answered:
“Then explain it slowly.”
Declan almost smiled.
Ethan definitely did.
Grace caught him.
“Don't.”
“What?”
“Look proud.”
“I am.”
“You don't get credit.”
“I know.”
Better.
Rachel came to the island under subpoena for deposition.
She admitted Richard had originally invited her into the structure.
He wanted an independent pressure mechanism.
But resentment took over.
She changed covenants.
Added conversion rights.
Used Vanessa.
Partnered with Robert.
What began as governance insurance became revenge.
Then Grace asked one question.
“Did you authorize the forged medical request?”
Rachel hesitated.
“Yes.”
That ended any remaining sympathy.
Charges followed.
Not dramatic.
Fraud.
Privacy violations.
Conspiracy.
Financial misconduct.
Then Robert cut a deal.
He revealed a hidden account containing $71 million of the missing funds.
But claimed the rest went somewhere else.
“Where?”
A family office.
Account labeled GPC.
Grace Pierce Calloway?
No.
Grace's name was Bennett before marriage.
The initials belonged to someone else.
Gerald Pierce Calloway.
No such person.
Declan recognized the middle name.
Pierce had been Richard's mother's maiden name.
Then Margaret went pale.
Gerald Pierce Calloway was Richard's younger brother.
Declared dead at age twenty.
He had not died.
He disappeared after a family scandal.
And if alive, he might own the oldest senior claim to the Calloway trust.
The mystery moved again.
Then a letter arrived at Calloway headquarters.
No return address.
Inside:
Stop digging into Gerald.
Grace read it twice.
Ethan asked:
“Threat?”
She turned the page.
“No.”
A warning.

Because beneath it was written:
If you find him, Declan loses everything.
