Chapter 4 - THE FALL OF THE DYNASTY

By three in the afternoon, the Vance family made their final, desperate stand outside the iron gates of my four-million-dollar estate. Julian, Beatrice, and Donald had gathered with two locksmiths, attempting to force the heavy perimeter keypad open with crowbars.

Dozens of neighbors stood on their manicured lawns with their phones raised, broadcasting the entire pathetic spectacle to millions of viewers on social media. Beatrice was screaming obscenities at the security cameras, demanding the police arrest me for locking her out of 'her kingdom.'

Suddenly, three dark police cruisers and a federal marshal SUV screeched to a halt along the cobblestone driveway. Julian immediately ran toward the lead officer, waving his arms hysterically like a madman.

"Officer! My wife has unlawfully seized my residence!" Julian yelled, pointing a trembling finger at the second-story balcony. "Break down those doors and arrest her right now!"

The lead marshal stepped out of his vehicle, adjusted his badge, and unfolded an official stack of red-sealed arrest warrants. He didn't look at the mansion; he walked straight up to Julian and spun him around against the police cruiser hood.

"Julian Vance, you are under arrest for corporate embezzlement, wire fraud, and grand larceny," the marshal stated loudly for every neighbor to hear. The metallic click of handcuffs echoed across the silent, prestigious neighborhood like a whip crack.

"No! Mother, do something!" Julian screamed, struggling against the officer's iron grip as his forehead pressed into the cold metal hood. "Call our attorneys! Tell them who we are!"

Beatrice rushed forward, swinging her leather designer purse at the federal agents in a state of complete hysteria. "Unband him this instant! We are the Vance family! We own this entire city!"

"Ma'am, step back or you will be charged with assaulting a federal officer," another deputy warned, grabbing Beatrice’s wrists and securing her in zip-ties. "We also have a warrant for your arrest regarding probate fraud and identity falsification dating back to 1991."

The crowd of wealthy neighbors gasped and began whispering in shock as Beatrice Vance was pushed into the back of a squad car. Donald tried to slip away down the tree-lined avenue, only for two county sheriff deputies to tackle him onto the manicured grass.

From the safety of the second-floor balcony, Maya and Chloe stood by my side, watching the three people who had terrorized our home being loaded into police vehicles. There was no fear left in my daughters' eyes—only the profound, quiet realization that their mother had shielded them from the wolves forever.

Julian looked up through the police cruiser window, catching my gaze one last time as the siren began to wail. I stood tall against the afternoon sun, wearing a silk dress, holding my daughters' hands, and offering him nothing more than a cold, silent smile.
