Chapter 7 - SARAH HAD BEEN PREPARING A DOCTOR TOO

The plan needed medical credibility.
Julian had found it.
Dr. Samuel Keene.
A concierge physician who had never treated Marcus.
Yet Julian’s draft petition named Keene as a “potential evaluating provider.”
Rachel investigated carefully.
No accusation without evidence.
Keene had previously done consulting for Cross Meridian Advisory.
That alone was not wrongdoing.
Then police recovered deleted messages from Sarah’s phone through lawful process.
Sarah:
WHAT DOES HE NEED TO SAY?
Julian:
NOTHING FALSE.
Sarah:
THAT’S NOT AN ANSWER.
Julian:
JUST GET MARCUS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT MEMORY, FATIGUE, STRESS. KEENE CAN RECOMMEND EVALUATION.
The plan was not necessarily to forge a diagnosis.
It was to create enough documented concern that Marcus’s capacity could be questioned temporarily.
Sarah would supply home videos.
Confused Marcus.
Erratic Lily.
Chaotic household.
Then Julian could argue urgent stabilization was needed.
Marcus felt sick.
The scheme depended on half-truths.
That made it more dangerous than a ridiculous fake diagnosis.
Marcus had been tired.
He had missed meetings.
He had complained about headaches.
Lily had appeared emotionally dysregulated on video.
The context was the lie.
Then Lily told her therapist something else.
“Sarah gives Daddy bedtime tea when he has big work.”
Marcus closed his eyes.
Not every cup.
Only before important periods.
The investigators preserved containers from the house.
Testing identified a sedating medication in one unlabeled dropper.
Marcus had no prescription for it.
Sarah’s attorney advised her not to answer questions about it yet.
That was her right.
Marcus did not need a confession to protect Lily.
Family court issued temporary restrictions preventing unsupervised contact while the facts were investigated.
The divorce filing followed.
Sarah received it through counsel.
She sent Marcus one message:
I NEVER WANTED TO HURT HER.
He stared.
Then replied only through Rachel:
Communicate through counsel.
That night, Evelyn sat beside him at Seabrook.
“You loved her.”
Marcus nodded.
“I still don’t know which parts were real.”
Evelyn said:
“Maybe some were.”
“That doesn’t help.”
“No.”
Then she handed him another folder.
Hannah’s father had kept a personnel file on Daniel Whitmore.
Sarah’s father.
Inside was the truth Julian had hidden from Sarah.
Daniel had not been framed by the Harts.
He had discovered Julian manipulating vendor payments.
Daniel reported it.
Julian retaliated by shifting suspicious approvals toward Daniel.
The Hart family’s internal review initially blamed both men.
Months later, they cleared Daniel.
But Daniel had already resigned in humiliation.
A settlement was paid.
Confidential.
Sarah apparently knew only the first half.
May you like
Julian had convinced her the Harts destroyed her father.
In reality, Daniel had been one of the first people who tried to expose Julian.
